Hexensalbe is a mixture of local Texas plants that were either organically grown in a garden or wildcrafted with the utmost respect. The formula includes: Moonflower (Datura wrightii), Alkanet Root (Alkanna tinctoria), Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris), Red Rose (Rosa sp.), Mandrake root (Mandragora officinarum), Calamus Root (Acorous calamus), Orris Rot (Rhizoma iridis), organic beeswax, organic coconut oil, and organic essential oils of ylang ylang, geranium, and lavender.

The ointment can be lightly applied to the back of the neck and third eye to ground and protect. Small amounts can be applied to pulse points on the body to aid in meditation. Or a small, pea-sized amount can be applied internally.

As with any medicine, begin with small dosages and slowly work your way upwards. Treat these plant spirits with respect and always act with your best judgement.

In ritual you may want to set aside time to create sacred space before you engage in soul flight. This simple act creates a safe, positive space for you to confidently interact with sacred plant medicine. Do this in whatever manner Spirit calls you to do it. Some prefer to burn sacred herbs and smudge their space. You can use plants such as Juniper, Lavender, Rosemary, or Frankincense to do this if you desire. Next, light a small votive or tealight and invoke your ancestors and/or spirit guides. Let your intentions be known and speak aloud what you wish to accomplish during your soul flight, or perhaps what guidance you seek. Find a comfortable position on the ground lying on your back. Feel free to put a cushion under your knees or your head. Once you are comfortable apply small amounts of Hexenblut to your third eye and pulse points. Gently massage it in and begin to breathe slowly and deeply. You may want to try inhaling to a count of four, softly holding your breath for a count of four, exhaling to a count of four and repeating the cycle until you develop your own rhythm. Meditate for as little or long as you like, but remember to thank Spirit and the plant medicine for any insights or guidance that was received.

Inspired by the flying ointments created by German witches during the Renaissance.
